Hi there.
Well this is pretty awkward, I mean, what do you do when you try to
introduce yourself. I can hardly shake your hand and speak to you, but I’ll try
my best.
My name is Matt. Or my nickname, Mearl (my surname is Earl, so hence
Mearl). I am 19 and I live in the rainy country of England. One day it will be
sunny country, but that day hasn’t come yet. Now that you’ve read this far and
haven’t gone to something else, welcome to my brand new blog.
What am I into? Sports mainly. Socialising comes a close second. I like
doing lots of stuff. Which is kind of why I’m here…
I’m about to start a YouTube channel. It’s not running yet, because I
need to get a decent camera first. But the idea behind the channel will be to
do the challenges suggested by the viewers, hopefully it will be entertaining
and a little wacky at the same time.
Writing this and realising that somebody is actually going to be reading
this makes me feel a tad awkward. But mind you, there’s plenty of that in my
life right now. Pretty much because I lost my job.
I was recently working in a bank. It was great fun, and was
particularly useful in social situations, as it was a decent, respectable job
with a good wage. However, the problem was that I wasn’t actually that great at
it, so once my 6 month probation ended, the bank decided to cut my losses. So
now I’m unemployed with a lot of time on hands. But being without a job isn’t
the hardest bit.
I don’t know if any of you have been in the same situation. Having had
something good, and then going to having nothing, trying to explain to everyone
is very bizarre and slightly embarrassing. So after losing my job with the
bank, I still had people asking me “oh, how is your job in the bank
going?”. All I can think of is seriously like, how do I answer that. This
question normally comes from people you don’t actually know, but you still don’t
want to sound stupid and pathetic in front of. So I just usually politely nod
and say, “it’s going alright!”.
How do you admit to someone that you’ve screwed up? I’ve tried the
approach where you make out like you want to leave, but I still never get the balls
to actually say I’m not there. I’m probably going to just carry on saying I’m
working in a bank until I get a new job, and god knows when that’ll be. Either
way I’m going to left with more socially awkward situations to admit why I’m in
a new job, it’s like a never ending circle of awkwardness. Does anyone actually
